Iggy Pop was never simply a rock singer.
He represented danger, collapse, instinct, and physical intensity in a way that permanently changed the meaning of rock music itself.

Emerging from Detroit with The Stooges in the late 1960s, Iggy helped create what would later become known as proto-punk.
At a time when rock music was becoming increasingly polished and technically sophisticated, The Stooges stripped everything back down to primitive rhythm, raw repetition, noise, tension, and emotional violence.

Iggy’s performances felt less like entertainment and more like confrontation.
Sweat, blood, chaos, self-destruction, unpredictability − he brought the body itself back into rock music.

Albums such as The Stooges, Fun House, and Raw Power became foundational works for punk, post-punk, hardcore, industrial, and alternative rock.
Without Iggy Pop, the emotional and physical extremity later found in punk culture may never have fully emerged in the same way.

Then came the Berlin period with David Bowie.
Through albums such as The Idiot and Lust for Life, Iggy evolved from pure chaos into something colder, darker, more psychological, and strangely beautiful.
Those recordings helped connect proto-punk with post-punk, art rock, and industrial atmosphere.

What makes Iggy Pop so important is not simply aggression.
It is vulnerability.
Behind the violence and danger was loneliness, instability, exhaustion, and emotional exposure.
That human fragility became part of the music itself.

This is also why Iggy Pop connects deeply with Velvet Ashes.
The connection is not about copying punk rock directly.
It is about understanding music as emotional risk, atmosphere, psychological intensity, and raw human presence.
The dark tension, isolation, decadence, and fragile beauty found in works like The Idiot still resonate strongly inside the emotional landscape of Velvet Ashes.

そして1970年代後半、David BowieとのBerlin時代によって、Iggyはさらに変化していく。
The IdiotやLust for Lifeでは、単純な暴走だけではなく、冷たさ、孤独、精神的不安定さ、退廃的な美しさが強く現れていた。

特にThe Idiotには、後のポストパンクやインダストリアルへ繋がる空気が既に存在している。

影響とは、パンク ロックをそのまま再現することではない。
重要なのは、「感情の危険性」を音楽に持ち込む感覚である。

孤独、緊張感、退廃、夜の空気、崩壊寸前の美しさ。
Iggy Pop、特にThe Idiot期に存在していたそうした空気は、Velvet Ashesの持つ暗い感情世界にも深く繋がっている。
