That changed when he produced U2's albums "The Unforgettable Fire" and "The Joshua Tree."
Listening to those records, I felt something completely different from their earlier sound.
It was not just about better songs or performances − it was about the sense of space, depth, and atmosphere surrounding the music.

Of course, producer Steve Lillywhite had already captured the raw energy and directness of U2.
His work was powerful and honest.
But Brian Eno brought something else.
He preserved the band's identity while expanding the sound into something more spacious and cinematic.

That was the moment I realized how dramatically a producer could transform music.

Today, when I work on mixing, sound effects, and overall production for Velvet Ashes,
I often feel the influence of Brian Eno's ideas.
Not in imitation, but in the way he thinks about sound − as an environment, as a texture, and as a living space.

Later, by reading his books and learning about his creative philosophy,
I began to understand his originality and the way he approached sound design.
It helped me see music production not only as technique, but as a way of shaping experience.

Personal Memory − Sound as Space

私の中でBrian Enoの存在が大きく変わったのは、
彼がU2のアルバム

のプロデューサーを務めた時だった。

それまでのU2ももちろん良かった。
特にプロデューサーのSteve Lillywhiteは、彼らの持つ熱量やストレートな力強さを見事に引き出していたと思う。

しかしBrian Enoが関わったことで、
音楽の質というより、
音の空間が大きく開かれたような感覚
を体感した。

彼はU2の持っている本来の良さを残しながら、
その上に、壮大で立体的な音の世界を作り出したように感じた。

そのとき私は、
プロデューサーによって、ここまでサウンドが変わるのか
という驚きと感動を覚えた。

Influence on My Own Production

現在、私はVelvet Ashesの楽曲において、
ミキシングや効果音、音楽全体のプロデュースを自分自身で行っている。

その作業の中で、
Brian Enoの影響はとても大きいと感じている。

もちろん彼の音を真似しているわけではない。
しかし、

音を空間として捉えること
音の余白や質感を大切にすること
全体の雰囲気を設計すること

そうした発想の根底には、
彼から学んだ考え方があると思っている。

その後、彼の著書を読むことで、
その独創的な思考や、サウンドの作り方の発想を
少しだけ理解できたような気がした。
