Personal Memory − First Encounter

The first time I became aware of this band was in the late 1980s,
when I came across the phrase “BUCK-TICK phenomenon”
in the advertisement section of the music magazine DOLL.

At that time, they were still releasing their work through an independent label,
and had not yet achieved nationwide recognition.
Nevertheless, they already carried a distinctive atmosphere
and a strong sense of presence.

To be honest,
what I remember most clearly is that,
even before hearing their music,
I found myself thinking,
“There is something undeniably cool about this band.”

For me, it is actually quite rare to feel that a Japanese rock band is
genuinely “cool,” including their overall image and atmosphere.
Yet in the case of this band,
there was something that intuitively gave me that impression.

Later, they would make their major debut
and become widely known to the public.
But for me,
everything seems to have started
from that single phrase I saw in the advertisement−
the “BUCK-TICK phenomenon.”

Personal Memory − First Encounter

その後、彼らはメジャー・デビューを果たし、
多くの人が知る存在となっていくが、
自分にとっては、
あの広告欄で見た「バクチク現象」という言葉が、
すべての始まりだったように思う。
